Tax collection in first half dips to Rs 77,422 crore

New Delhi, Oct 15: Tax collection in the first-half (April-September) of the current fiscal declined by 6.2 per cent at Rs 77,422 crore from Rs 82,539.18 crore collected in the corresponding period last year.

According to an official release direct tax realisation upto September this year has been Rs 24,550.21 crore as against Rs 26,540.77 crore in the same period in 2000-01, showing a decline of 7.5 per cent. I-T mopup in H1 this year stood at Rs 12,885 crore (Rs 12,938.91 crore), a marginal fall of 0.4 per cent. Corporate tax realisation during the period decreased by 14.6 per cent at Rs 11,487.96 crore (Rs 13,450.33 crore).
