Nationalised banks accounted
for 53.4 per cent of the total aggregate deposits in the banking
industry with the State Bank of India and its associates accounting
for 24.8 per cent.
The government is undertaking
a series of measures to remove impediments to foreign direct
investment including reducing the time-frame for approvals and
