Our Corporate Bureau in New Delhi

The Information Technology and Communications Minister Pramod Mahajan will inaugurate the India-Singapore Technology Expo (Istex 2001) on October 9 in Singapore. The three-day technology fair will be an important part of the ‘India Week’ being organised in Singapore by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Mr Mahajan will also inaugurate the recently relocated CII office in Singapore during his visit, CII said in a statement.

A CEOs’ mission, led by CII president Sanjiv Goenka will visit Singapore from October 9-12, with the objective of forging partnerships and looking at new opportunities, the release said.

The delegation will include CII director general Tarun Das, CII International chairman Arun Bharat Ram, Vam Organics Chemicals’ managing director Hari Bhartia, Ispat Industries vice-chairman Pramod Mittal, Zensar Technologies deputy chairman Ganesh Natarajan, Feedback Ventures chairman Vinayak Chatterjee and Ambuja Cements Eastern Ltd chairman Harshvardhan Neotia.

UNI adds : Underlining the importance of a government-industry partnership to take this forward, CII pointed out that the participation of the government in overseas exhibitions and trade fairs was a great source of encouragement.

Mr Mahajan will be the guest of honour at the Singapore-India conference on information technology as well as a conference on trade and economic cooperation.

In sync with the new strategy, most of the business conferences revolve around different segments of the services industry. Separate conferences are being organised on the tourism and hospitality industry, infrastructure sector, financial services, information and communication technology, healthcare and health research and on opportunities for trade. Apart from business and economic events, ‘India week’ will also showcase and celebrate India’s rich cultural
tradition.
