to inaugurate tech exhibition today

The Information Technology and Communications Minister Pramod
Mahajan will inaugurate the India-Singapore Technology Expo
(Istex 2001) on October 9 in Singapore. The three-day technology
fair will be an important part of the ‘India Week’ being organised
in Singapore by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Mr Mahajan will also inaugurate the recently relocated CII
office in Singapore during his visit, CII said in a statement.
A CEOs’ mission, led by CII president Sanjiv Goenka will visit
Singapore from October 9-12, with the objective of forging
partnerships and looking at new opportunities, the release
said.
The delegation will include CII director general Tarun Das,
CII International chairman Arun Bharat Ram, Vam Organics Chemicals’
managing director Hari Bhartia, Ispat Industries vice-chairman
Pramod Mittal, Zensar Technologies deputy chairman Ganesh
Natarajan, Feedback Ventures chairman Vinayak Chatterjee and
Ambuja Cements Eastern Ltd chairman Harshvardhan Neotia.
UNI adds : Underlining the importance of a government-industry
partnership to take this forward, CII pointed out that the
participation of the government in overseas exhibitions and
trade fairs was a great source of encouragement.
Mr Mahajan will be the guest of honour at the Singapore-India
conference on information technology as well as a conference
on trade and economic cooperation.
In sync with the new strategy, most of the business conferences
revolve around different segments of the services industry.
Separate conferences are being organised on the tourism and
hospitality industry, infrastructure sector, financial services,
information and communication technology, healthcare and health
research and on opportunities for trade. Apart from business
and economic events, ‘India week’ will also showcase and celebrate
India’s rich cultural
tradition.
