Delphi Automotive targets higher growth via new range

Bangalore, Oct 3: Delphi Automotive Systems Ltd, the world’s largest and most diversified supplier of automotive components and systems, is planning a double digit growth in India from its after-market operations. During year 2000, the company sales from the segment touched Rs 228 crore in the country.

Delphi Automotive Systems Ltd, India president and managing director Ravi Khanna said, ‘‘This was possible since we increased our product line.’’

In order to strengthen its position in the Indian market, Delphi has introduced new products and technologies.

The company’s president- Asia Pacific Choon T Chon said,‘‘Delphi views India as a key market in the region. We plan to offer the value propositions and quality, technology and innovation that the Delphi brand represents globally.’’

Towards this, the new technology products on display range from entertainment to vehicle safety. These include a range of mobile entertainment and communication systems with a visor-style overhead monitor, wireless transmitter, infra-red wireless headphones, DVD and MP3 players.

It has also launched safety control systems, like obstacle detention parking aid, car immobiliser and remote controlled keyless entry.

Delphi Automotive Systems launched its aftermarket operations in India in January 2000 and has since established a large national distribution and customer service. It supplies to 18 of the top 20 global car manufacturers and all the leading manufacturers in India.
Its worldwide sales revenue touched $24.2 billion in calendar year 2000 and sales from after-market operations touched $2.1 billion during the same year.

Its nationwide after-market customer contact programme, which has now reached Bangalore, the second destination, is aimed at reaching out around 50,000 car owners within a span of nine months providing free car service check-ups by qualified technicians and engineers. It will cover suspension, drive shaft, air-conditioning, lube and engine oil, brake and transmission oil and tyre wear and tear.
