National Association of Software and Service
Companies (Nasscom) has joined hands with the leading European
business daily, Financial Times, to organise a joint India-Europe
IT Summit in London on October 23.
The event, according to Nasscom, will focus on identifying
new business opportunites in Europe and showcasing India’s
potential in undertaking outsourcing business.
The one-day summit, which will be targeted at the decision-makers
of European companies, will be inaugurated by UK minister
for e-commerce, Mr Douglas alexander. Around 50 Indian software
and information technology- enabled service companies are
expected to take part in the summit, claimed Nasscom. “Europe
is the second-largest information and communication technology
market with 29 per cent share after US and the country is
going at a pace above the world average. There is a huge untapped
potential in the areas of information technology and e-business
that can be outsourced to India,” said Nasscom chairman Phiroz
Vandrevala, on Wednesday.
The theme of the summit would be “Outsourcing from India—setting
a course for value”, aimed at highlighting cost-effective
IT outsourcing capability of India. “Some of the focus areas
would include Europe’s need for IT solutions and India’s advantage
in terms of infrastructure and skilled human resource,” Mr
Vandrevala added.
