FII
investments lower at Rs 16.7 cr last week

Mumbai, Aug 26: FOREIGN Institutional Investors’ (FII)
investments for the week were down at Rs 16.7 crore for the
week ended August 23. This is against investments of Rs 160.
7 crore for the week ended August 16, and inflows of Rs 166.8
crore a week prior.
This week, FIIs were sellers in debt and
buyers in equity markets. They were sellers in debt with outflows
of Rs 31 crore against inflows of Rs 91.7 crore last week.
Their investments in equities market were also down this week
with inflows of Rs 47.7 crore against inflows of Rs 69 crore
last week. Till August 23, 2001, the FII investments stood
at Rs 12,614.6 crore while their investments for the month
as on Aug 23, 2001 was Rs 399.8 crore.
Meanwhile, the mutual funds (MFs) pumped
in Rs 118.50 crore for the week ended August 23, against Rs
319.93 crore for the week ending August 16.
The MFs invested Rs 155.88 crore in debt
market during the week against investments of Rs 411.60 crore
a week prior. They were sellers in equity with outflows of
Rs 37.38 crore compared to outflows of Rs 91.67 crore last
week.
The MFs made investments of Rs 639.06 crore
for the month till August 23, 2001. Their investments in debt
market was placed at Rs 933.86 crore while their selling in
equities was placed at Rs 294.80 crore.
For the quarter ended August 23, 2001,
the MFs pumped in Rs 2971 crore with inflows of Rs 4594.40
crore in the debt market and outflows of Rs 1623.40 crore
in equities.
