CIL
ties up with Apollo group to set up specialty hospital
New Delhi, Aug 26: PUBLIC sector
coal giant Coal India Ltd (CIL) on Sunday said it has roped
in Apollo Hospitals for establishing a super specialty hospital
in Central India. “We have entered into an agreement with
Apollo group for running our upcoming hospital in Bilaspur,”
chairman and managing director NK Sharma said.
Mr Sharma said CIL had recently tied up
with the Apollo group, paving the way for the latter to set
up a super specialty hospital on the lines of Apollo group
hospitals in other parts of the country. He said that as per
the agreement, Apollo Hospitals will bring in its expertise
in running world class hospitals, along with technical know-how.
Apollo group will bring in its own doctors
to run the 150-bed hospital being set up by South Eastern
Coalfields (SECL), a subsidiary of CIL. “Apollo group was
roped in because of the technical and managerial experience
it has acquired in setting up and running super specialty
hospitals in the country”, he said. He said the hospital which
was currently under construction would be in operation in
another six months.
“Establishment of the hospital would bestow
several benefits on CIL employees and people of the area as
there is no super specialty hospital in the area”, Mr Sharma
said. He added that CIL on its own was finding it difficult
to establish specialised hospitals in interior regions, owing
to pay structure offered by PSUs. He said CIL would be able
to save substantial amount money which it incurs in referring
its employees from the region to various hospitals across
the country. “The hospital will entail a twin benefit on the
company in the form of cost savings and convenience to our
employees,” he added.
