NET4INDIA, an Internet infrastructure and services company,
is planning to set up Web-based e-mail service for its domain
name registrars. Net4India.net, which is a dedicated site
for Net4India’s dial-up Internet subscribers, will soon have
email feature for the corporates and individuals who have
either registered or hosted their domain names using Net4India
service.
Said Mr Jasjit Sawhney, the chief executive officer of Net4India,
“The facility of mail access will be available to our domain
name registrars and hosting customers. Around one lakh plus
domain name registration were done through us and 70 per cent
are from the corporate sector. To facilitate the mail access
of the corporate and individual users we have decided to set
up a web based email service for them. Otherwise each time
the users want to access the mail using their domain address,
they have to configure their mail accounts.”
Net4India will launch this service within the next two weeks
and it would be a paid service for the customer. Net4India
is offering a domain name registration package for Rs 399
per year. Along with the domain, the customer will get one
free branded email account. And this account will be accessible
through the Net4India.net.
According to Mr Jasjit Sawhney, the chief executive officer
of Net4India, the decision of some of the well-known email
service providers to replace the free email service with the
paid service has created opportunities for the domain registrar
companies to push the whole range of value added services.
“With VSNL discontinuing its mail relay service, we believe
our package will attract corporate customers,” said Mr Sawhney.
