Bill Junction to extend online payment system

Our eFE Bureau in Thiruvananthapuram

Bill Junction Payment Ltd, the e-commerce outfit of ICICI, has entered into an agreement with the Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation (Keltron) to extend its online payment system to Thiruvananthapuram with effect from December this year. At present, the facility is available only in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and Pune.

The agreement in this regard was signed here on Monday by Keltron managing director Ajay Kumar and Bill Junction’s chief operating officer Bikramjit Sen in the presence of Kerala industry minister PK Kunhali Kutty.

Regular payment for electricity, water, telephone, cellular phone, credit card, insurance premium and instalment of loan repayment could be made through the Internet-based service, thereby avoiding cumbersome processes such as remembering due dates for each payment, approaching banks, arranging cash and waiting in queues.
This will also help avoid default of payment and resultant penalties or disconnection of service. The details of bills payable to different agencies will be notified to the subscriber of the facility by e-mail. The service charge levied will be nominal.

The service also includes electronic confirmation after payment of bills. Record of the transactions could be archived for one-year online and for three years offline, a Keltron spokesman said.
The service will gradually be extended to cover all types of recurring payments, including school fees.
