Zensar Technologies Ltd is expanding its horizons with China and South America as the new frontiers. Ganesh Natrajan, deputy chairman and managing director of Zensar, said: “The goal for the next quarter is to develop intellectual property rights (IPR) and translate it to Chinese and explore business in the Chinese market.

We are looking for a local partner for entering the Chinese market.” Similar efforts are on in South America from where it has received a couple of enquiries. The South American market is growing in the e-commerce segment and Zensar is seeking Spanish partners to scout for business in Mexico, Columbia, Costa Rica and Chile.

Meanwhile, the company revenues for the first quarter dropped, but profitability improved. “We have done better projects and the timely shift to key verticals had helped the company weather the slowdown.

The new focus on performance management systems has also contributed to better profitability,” Natrajan said. There has been growth in new business in the first four months with the addition of 22 new customer,” Natrajan added. The focus on Asia has paid dividends with South East Asia business growing at 40 per cent. This segment contributes 15-18 per cent of business. While US has witnessed a flat growth, the European business has registered 15 per cent growth.

Zensar has entered the Scandinavian market with the opening up of offices in Stockholm and Helsinki, where it is doing significant business for a leading telecom company.

It has also acquired a shelf company in Germany and will launch its business after hiring the head of operations. Meanwhile, the company has inducted senior level officials to manage Indian and overseas operations and set up new businesses.
