Our
Markets Bureau
Mumbai, July 17: The stock brokers on Tuesday announced
a one-day token strike on July 23 and will refrain from trading
activities in protest against the introduction of rolling
settlement and levy of turnover fee by the Securities and
Exchange Board of India (SebI).
Incidentally, this is the day on which the Parliament is scheduled
to open for the Monsoon session. The decision was taken in
a meeting of the representatives of 16 different Stock Exchanges
(SEs) including the National Stock Exchange and The Stock
Exchange, Mumbai (BSE). The meeting was convened at the premises
of the BSE. The meeting also decided to form an association
which would be a federation of the various brokers forum/associations
across the country which will be based in Mumbai.
