awards for excellence in agricultural journalism
New Delhi, July 15: Two journalists
have been awarded the first Chaudhary Charan Singh Award for
excellence in Agricultural Journalism by the Indian Council
of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
G Venkataramani of The Hindu and Devendra Sharma, freelance
writer, would jointly receive the Rs one lakh award.
The journalists are among 62 other ICAR awardees, 58 scientists
and two farmers, who would receive the awards from Agriculture
Minister Nitish Kumar here tomorrow.
Nine scientists, who have been chosen for the Rs three-lakh
Rafi Ahmad Kidwai Awards, include Dr GS Nanda from Punjab
Agricultural University, Dr R Sai Kumar from Hyderabad, Delhi’s
Dr BS Parmar Karnal’s Dr SK Gupta, Patna’s Dr SR Singh, Simla’s
Dr GS Shekhawat, Punjab Agricultural Ubniversity Dr PP Gupta,
and Izatnagar’s Dr Jag Mohan.
Harayana’s Randhir Singh Sheokhand and Maharashtra’s Pradeep
J Patil have been selected for farmer’s awards.
Young Scientists awards, renamed as Lal Bahadur Shastri Young
Scientist Awards, have gone to ten scientists.
Four scientists receive the Hariom Ashram Trust Awards and
18 Jawaharlal Nehru Awards, an ICAR release said.
Sardar Patel Outstanding Institution Awards have gone to University
of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, Central Institute of Fisheries
Technology, Cochin and Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan
Sansthan, Almora, it said.
