Textile Policy sees export target of $50 billion

Baroda, July 15: Union Textile Minister Kashiram Rana has said the recently announced Textile Policy envisages an export target of $50 billion by year 2010 and 50 per cent of this target would be achieved by apparel export.

Mr Rana told reporters yesterday that the Policy focuses on measures to secure progressive increase in production and exportable surplus, strengthening competitive framework of all segments of the textile industry, removal of available regulations and facilitation for orderly transition of industry to market oriented forward looking industry.

Mr Rana, who was going to USA to attend the international conference on carpet industry in Atlanta on July 19.
