Engg industry records 30% exports growth

Kolkata, June 6: THE engineering industry has achieved a record export growth of 30.4 per cent in 2000-01 compared to the previous fiscal. Engineering exports during 2000-01 was to the tune of $5.96 billion as compared to $4.56 billion in 1999-00.

Congratulating the industry for the commendable performance, chairman of Engineering Export Promotion Council JS Bhasin said that all the major groups in the engineering sector have recorded a double-digit growth with machine tools, machineries and instruments, recording an average growth of 34 per cent, followed by metals with 31 per cent.
