Singapore-based Arisaig acquires over 6% in UB

Kolkata, June 6

SINGAPORE-BASED Arisaig PartnersAsia Pte Ltd has acquired about 6.5 per cent stake in Vijay Mallya
controlled United Breweries Ltd (UB).

The Mallya-controlled company on Wednesday said that ArisaigPartners Asia through its two subsidiaries — Arisaig India Fund Ltd and Arisaig Asian Small Companies Fund (Mauritius) Ltd — was holding 6.426 per cent of UB’s total paid-up equity capital as on June one, 2001. “We have been advised by Arisaig Partners by their two letters dated May 22 received by us on May 26, 2001 that their shareholding in the company through their subsidiaries’ accounts will be more than five per cent of the equity capital of our company,” UB’s deputy company secretary Govind Iyengar said in a letter to Calcutta Stock Exchange.

Mr Iyengar said as per their records, Arisaig India Fund Ltd was holding 4,50,000 shares comprising 1.192 per cent of the total paid-up capital. (PTI)
