Genetically engineered plants harmful: NGO

Washington, June 6 : GENETICALLY-engineered plants can be ecologically more harmful than toxic chemicals, an environment NGO has said.

“The genetic structures of living beings are expressions of the ecosystems and they need to survive to help reproduce those ecosystems,” the Institute for Energy and Environmental Research (IEER) said in a report. The report titled ’Ecology and Genetics: An Essay on the Nature of Life and the Problem of Genetic Engineering’ states that inter-species genetic engineering creates new types of living beings which could not arise naturally.
