Petronet to invite global EPC bids for Kochi LNG project
Petronet LNG Ltd has reworked its plans to award the prestigious contract for developing the Rs 1,800-crore, 2.5 million tonne LNG terminal project at Kochi. As against its earlier plans of awarding the Kochi LNG project on built-own-operate-and-transfer basis , PLL has now decided to invite global EPC bids for this project.

DPC misdeclared availability: MSEB
The Dabhol Power Company had defaulted and misdeclared the availability of power immediately after the commissioning of Dabhol phase-I in May and July 1999, according to sources from the Maharashtra State Electricity Board .

Indian Bank posts Rs 274 crore net loss
Chennai-based Indian Bank has posted an operating profit of Rs 61.59 crore during the year 2000-01 as against Rs 23.86 crore in the previous year, registering a growth of 158 per cent. This is after taking into account the amortisation of the first instalment of voluntary retirement scheme and other staff related provisions such as leave encashment etc. aggregating Rs 96.01 crore. However, the net loss of the bank during the year stood at Rs 274 crore compared to a net loss of Rs 426.97 crore in the financial year ended March 2000.

DPC power cost MSEB Rs 3,363 cr since ’99
The Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB), which has recently refused to pay the April bill of Rs 136 crore to Dabhol Power Company (DPC), has incurred total expenses of whopping Rs 3,362.90 crore over the purchase of 6,451.78 million units from DPC between May 13, 1999 and April 2001.

INDIA’S import of palm oil in the current year is likely to rise to 3.85 million tonne (m tn) as against 3.55 million tonne in the previous year, despite the high tariff barriers imposed, said a study made on behalf of Comex Malaysia.
