Aventis zooms in on buyers for Aventis CropScience
The Franco-German life science company, Aventis, is believed to have narrowed down the search for a potential suitor for its agrochem arm — Aventis CropScience.

Shipping Corporation defers expansion of container fleet
The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) has decided to defer its container vessels expansion, in light of the sea being flooded with container vessels by 2003. SCI was earlier evaluating plans to buy three container vessels but gave it up and decided to focus on the energy and liquefied natural gas (LNG) segments.

Kinetic Group targets Rs 1,150 cr revenues from two-wheeler firms 
The Pune-based Kinetic Group has targeted to achieve an over 47 per cent growth in sales at Rs 1,150 crore in this fiscal from its twin two-wheeler companies.

Two Wockhardt compounds in pre-clinical development stage
The Mumbai-based Wockhardt has two of its compounds — WCK-771A and WCK-919 — in late pre-clinical development stage while its third compound, WCK-993A is at the toxicity study stage.

Samtel India to expand PC monitor capacity
Samtel India, part of the Rs 1,000-crore Samtel group, has decided to expand its personal computer (PC) monitor capacity by setting up a greenfield manufacturing facility with 1 million units capacity in Pondicherry. The plant, to be operational in the second half of 2002, will entail an investment of around $8 million (Rs 38 crore).

MRTPC rejects Godrej Soaps’ plea against Super Vasmol ad
The Monopolies & Restrictive Trade Practices Commission (MRTPC) has rejected Godrej Soaps’ application for injunction against Hygienic Research Institute’s Super Vasmol 33 advertisement, which Godrej Soaps said was “misleading” and “disparaging” to its hair dye brand.
