Monsanto India FY-01 net up 59.93%, declares 1:1 bonus issue

Mumbai, May 22

MONSANTO India Ltd has posted 59.93 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 19.24 crore for financial year ended on March 31, 2001 compared to Rs 12.03 crore in the previous fiscal.

The board of directors have recommended a 1:1 bonus issue (one bonus share for every share held), the company said in a notice to the BSE here on Tuesday.

A 100 per cent dividend (Rs 10 per share) has also been recommended by the board, it added.

Total income for the year under review was higher at Rs 242.97 crore as against Rs 105.03 crore in 1999-2000, the notice said.
In view of the acquisition of agriculture business and assets from Monsanto Enterprises Ltd and Monsanto Holdings Pvt Ltd, and the merger of Monsanto Technologies India Ltd this year, figures for FY-01 are not comparable to those of the previous year, the notice added. (PTI)
