Desai to be GCPTCL chief

Ahmedabad, May 17: THE managing director of the Bharuch-based Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Co Ltd (GNFC), Mr AD Desai, has taken over as the chairman of the Gujarat Chemical Port Terminal Co Ltd (GCPTCL), country’s first port exclusively for chemicals, built a cost of Rs 850 crore at Dahej in south Gujarat to handle 1.8 million tonne per annum traffic.

Mr Desai has taken a major role in formulating and implementing Port Policy of Gujarat in 1995, involving an expenditure of Rs 5,000 crore in private and joint sectors. He was earlier secretary of port and fisheries, government of Gujarat, and chairman of Gujarat Maritime Board, the nodal agency to implement the port policy.
