Roofit Ind commissions Pune plant

Our Corporate Bureau

Mumbai, May 7: THE flagship of the Rs 600-crore Motwani Enterpises — Roofit Industries Ltd— has commissioned its plant at Pune to manufacture 17 different grades of its Roofit dry premixed plaster. The new plant, set up at a cost of Rs 49 crore, has an installed capacity of 2,80,000 tonne per annum, a Roofit release said.

Commenting on the commissioning of the plant, Roofit chairman Suresh Motwani said: “By producing so many different types of plasters, Roofit has been able to make an entry into several other markets within the building materials industry and become a one-stop shop for building materials.”

The company is also setting up another plant at Chennai with a similar capacity which will reduce the demand-supply gap, once operational.

The basic Roofit dry mix plaster is a finely graded powder, pre-blended in the factory and delivered as one component, to be added with water at the work site. The product is made up of cement (20 per cent), finely ground sand (78 per cent) and plasticisers and resins (2 per cent).

The product serves as a quick and efficient replacement to conventional plastering products that are currently used for plastering interiors and exteriors of old and new buildings, the release said.

The applications of the different grades are classified under four categories viz, renders, tile plasters, finishing plasters and special products.

Plasters in the renders category are priced between Rs 105-Rs 210 per 40 kg bag while tile plasters are available for Rs 250-Rs 905 per 40 kg bag. Finishing plasters are priced from Rs 375-Rs 595 per 40 kg bag, the release said.

The company has taken its retail network past the 5,000 mark increasing its dealer network to 2,500 from 1,500, the release said.
