Quick meal for power lunchers

La Brasserie, Mumbai, introduces a new menu for the corporate on the move

Sulekha Nair

FOR those Mumbaiites for whom time is money and would prefer to use their lunch hour in meetings too, The Brasserie at The Oberoi has introduced power lunch, just for these jet-setters.

The Brasserie meal includes a soup or a salad, a main course (served in 15 minutes) and a choice of desserts. “The Brasserie Business Lunch has been created expressly for the corporate traveller. The main course includes a choice that will appeal to gourmet tastes, yet can be cooked in 15 minutes. Or else, the lunch is on me!” says executive Sous Chef Joy Bhattacharya.

The choices for the main course range from European favourites like ‘Red Snapper with tamarind tapenade and champagne glaze’, Paella Escavida with sweet peas and balsamic reduction to Oriental favourites like ‘Red Thai Vegetable Curry with makroot, pistachio pilaf and chutney, ‘Wok seared chicken with ginger scented noodles’. Vegetarians can opt for the ‘Fritos Misto of garden greens with hummus and tabouleh salad’ while seafood lovers can sample the ‘Bekti supremes Orlando with roast tomatoes and milled pepper’ or the ‘Parataco spiced Red Snapper with lemon cream sauce’.

The Brasserie does not have an ostentatious air about it. It has a laid-back style, where the waiters are discreet as they go about the tables taking orders and serving the food. Even the fans whirr languidly echoing a timelessness about the place. There is no hurry about anything except that the guest who walks in for the power lunch.

We sampled the lamb biryani which came with a generous helping of meat for such a small meal. The penne with mushroom sauce in the vegetarian meal too had a large helping. But the desserts were the best part of a meal, with a wide variety to choose from. There is the hot dessert—puddings of lemon, toffee or bread. Then there is tiramisu, chocolate mousse and creme brulee. There is also a platter of bite sized assorted French pastries such as mini tarts, mini cakes and swirls of chocolates. This quick meal comes at Rs 475. Check out the Brasserie for a quick lunch. Let your clock start ticking now.
