GAIL profit soars

New Delhi, April 2: The Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) has ended the financial year 2000-2001 with an impressive 25.4 per cent increase in its net profit at Rs 1080 crore as against Rs 861 crore in the previous year. Its turnover went up 19.31 per cent to Rs 10,040 crore in the year ending March 31, 2001 as compared to a turnover of Rs 8415 crore during 1999-2000, the sources said.
