VSP posts Rs 500 crore operating profit

Hyderabad, April 2: The ailing Vishakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), a unit of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd, has announced improved performance for the financial year 2000-01. It has reported 100 per cent growth in the operating profit to Rs 500 crore over previous year's Rs 252 crore. The company has released the unaudited financial results for the year March 2001 at Vishakhapatnam on Monday.For the year under review, VSP has reported a turnover of Rs 3,441 crore registering 15.7 per cent growth over previous year's Rs 2,973 crore. The turnover is inclusive of Rs 314 crore of exports during the year, which is best since inception, said the company.
