Tata Cellular Limited, the leading cell operator in Andhra Pradesh, has added yet another `first' to its credit. The company has become the first cellular operator to cover all districts in the state.In its last leg towards becoming the `power of total connectivity', Tata Cellular is entering Srikakulam, the last district to be covered. The chief minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu will make the announcement at a official function being organised on Tuesday.
Since its launch in 1996 in Andhra Pradesh, Tata Cellular has earned the reputation of many firsts to its credit. TCL was first to set up country's longest corridors - Costa and Deccan (covering nearly 800 kilometres); first to offer WAP-based connectivity; first to introduce e-mail services in cellphones and first to introduce mobile banking in Andhra Pradesh. The company has recently also crossed the 1,00,000 subscriber mark, according to a senior official of the company.
As part of maximum value to customers, the company also introduced `Total Coverage' concept in November last year to accomplish increased network presence and enhanced quality of coverage through is carefully planned and executed footprint encompassing several towns in AP, the official said.
As part of its endeavour to provide best services to the customers, the company has covered over 45 towns so far and bring the entire 75 towns into its fold in a short time, the official said.
The company has rolled out various cost effective schemes customised to suit individual calling pattern, including TCD/TCD+, AoL (Andhra Pradesh on Local), Almost Free Incoming Calls offer comparatively at a cheaper rates to ensure maximum benefits to the customers, the official said.
The company is set for a big push as part of its recent merger with Birla AT&T, which marks a significant step in the process of consolidation in the telecom sector, bringing together the expertise of two of the country's largest industrial houses and global's premier telecom company, the official said.
