Ahmedabad, March 28: In order to provide relief to the small depositors of the crisis-ridden Madhavpura Mercantile Bank, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is considering enhancing the present withdrawal ceiling from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000.Taking into account the small depositor's request, S Ramchandran, administrator of the Madhavpura Bank, made a recommendation to the RBI for enhancing the limit of deposit withdrawal of each depositor up to Rs 5,000.
This proposal has been forwarded to the RBI's headquarters in Mumbai, said the RBI's chief general manager VS Das. Mr Das said, "We are trying to sort out the problem of small depositors and are also looking at the figure of Rs 5,000."
