Tokyo bourse plans seminar in Seoul to attract start-ups

Tokyo: The Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) said on Monday it would hold a seminar in Seoul next month to try to woo foreign entrepreneurs to its new Mothers market for start-ups. A total of 100 South Korean companies and 20 to 30 venture capital and law firms are planning to attend the seminar on April 9, a TSE spokesman said.Japan's largest stock market is interested in holding similar seminars in other countries, he added. The TSE launched the Mothers market in 1999 to try to attract young, fast-growing Japanese start-ups to the tokyo stock market in a climate of stiffening competition between domestic bourses. The exchange revised its regulations last November to allow overseas companies to debut on Mothers. Copyright © 2001 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
