Govt paves way for DTH service; issues guidelines
New Delhi, March 15: The Centre on Thursday paved the way for commencement of Direct-to-Home (DTH) broadcasting services by issuing necessary guidelines, which limit broadcasting companies' equity participation in the venture to 20 per cent and make uplinking from India mandatory. Along with the sectoral cap for broadcasting companies, the foreign equity participation has been limited to 49 per cent, the guidelines said elaborating that FDI in this, would be further subjected to a ceiling of 20 per cent.
