New Delhi, March 15 : The government said on Thursday the proposed national fertiliser policy being finalised now would be "farmers and workers friendly" and designed to meet the requirements of the WTO regime."We are taking into account views of all the concerned sections and will come out with a fertiliser policy to meet the needs of farmers as well as workers", fertilisers minister Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said inaugurating a national workshop organised by Fertiliser Workers' Federation of India (FWFI).In order to formulate a comprehensive policy, the Centre is carefully examining the possible impact of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and undertaking wider consultations with the industry, workers, experts and professionals, besides obtaining the opinions of the state governments, he said.
Dhindsa said the recommendations made by the Expenditure Reforms Commission (ERC) and the expert committee would also be givendue consideration before finalising the fertiliserpolicy which would address all important issues relating to the sector including feedstock requirements.
