Trai suggestions on paging issues in a week
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) is expected to come out with its recommendations on the issues related to the paging industry in a week's time. Meanwhile, the Department of Telecommunications has referred the tariff plans for pagers to the tariff commission. A delegation representing paging companies met the tariff commissioner yesterday to apprise him of their viewpoint. Govt investment in telecom sector up by 31.57 per cent
The government investment in the telecom sector has gone up 31.57 per cent during 2000-01 at $4.46 billion compared to $3.39 billion in the last financial year. "The actual foreign direct investment in this sector has touched $ 1 billion," Communication Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said at a seminar on ``Telecommunications education, training and research'' organised by the British Council in New Delhi on Thursday.
CommWorks sets up India office
The CommWorks division of 3Com Corporation, a US-based company with 84 offices in 49 countries on six continents on Thursday formally announced that the newly established CommWorks' India office will serve as headquarters for SAARC region which would include Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Spice launches Zing Mail service
