DMIL will hive-off its engine and gearbox units into a separate company. The new company will be a 100% subsidiary of DMIL.

Airbus Industrie has forecasted that Air India would need nine of its new super jumbo aircraft, A380 by 2019. Airbus plans to put the A380 in service with Singapore Airlines in March 2006 and Air India would start to need it by 2007.
