New Delhi, March 12: The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) on Monday hiked prices of diuretic spironolactone and antiseptic liquid Dettol and fixed prices of 21 other formulation packs for the first time.While the highest price revision of 48.24 per cent has been made in the case of diuretic spironolactone from Knoll Pharmaceuticals, from Rs 44.28 to Rs 65.64 for a pack of 10 blisters, the lowest of 1.1 per cent is in the case of Hamdard's Cinkara Health tonic, from Rs 36.50 to 36.90 for 500 ml pack.
The prices of Dettol manufactured by Reckitt Benckiser India have been increased by 4.11 per cent to 5.60 per cent for packs of 50 ml, 100 ml, 200 ml and 500 ml, said an official statement here.
The price increase has been effected in case of 14 formulations, including imported insulin by Cadila Pharma's Rapsuilin, and Lentisuilin at Rs 110.50 for 10 ml pack and Lentinsulin with zinc at Rs 78.52.
The price of Solu-medrol, a glucocortiocid injection from Pharmacia & Upjohn India, has been increased by 21.11 per cent to Rs 611.02 from Rs 504.53 for 4 ml pack, while that of the 8 ml pack has been hiked by 20.83 per cent to Rs 996.03 from Rs 824.34.
The authority has also raised prices of bovine insulin from Knoll Pharma by 21.94 per cent to Rs 88.38 from Rs 72.48 for 10 ml vial and insulin zinc suspension by 22.23 per cent to Rs 88.42 from Rs 72.34. The pharma pricing body has, for the first time, fixed prices of Abbot Labs' anti-oxidant formulation at Rs 14.85 for pack of 10 tablets and Rs 45.35 for a bottle of 30 tablets. Prices of erythromycin solution used for acne treatment by Boots Pharma, Aknemycin, has been fixed at Rs 26.92, the release added.
