Centillium takes over Vengines Inc for $43 million
Centillium Communications, has announced the acquisition of privately held Vengines Inc, a leading developer of voice-over-packet (VoP) single chip solutions for a total of approximately US $43 million. With this acquisition, the Bangalore development centre of Vengines would now form part of Centillium's fully-owned subsidiary, Centillium India, being set up at Bangalore, a company press release said.

I-flex Solutions to open Asia Pacific HQ in Singapore
The Bangalore-based I-flex Solutions on Monday announced the opening of its Asia pacific headquarters in Singapore and the signing on of DBS bank for the implementation of flexcube across 10 countries. Rajesh Hukku, chairman of I-flex Solutions, said: "we chose Singapore in the Asia pacific due to its economic influence and presence as a financial hub. Singapore also possesses an excellent infrastructure that makes it ideal as a support base for our regional operations for financial services software."

Via Technologies to set up office in India in September
Taiwan-based core logic chip set company Via Technologies Inc said on Monday it would set up a sales and marketing office in India in September as part of its expansion plans for the country. "We will set up a wholly-owned sales and marketing office in India in September as part of our plans to expand Via Technologies's operations in the country", Mr Richard Brown, Director (Marketing), told newspersons in New Delhi. He said the company was looking at the possibility of setting up a 100 per cent research and development (R&D) subsidiary in India.

Raj Television gets govt nod to set up teleport in Chennai
The government has permitted Raj Television Network Ltd, which owns two Tamil channels, Raj TV and Raj Digital Plus, to establish a teleport in Chennai. The facility will enable the company to uplink its channels from India. However, according to Mr M Raajhendhran, MD, Raj Television, the broadcasters who want to avail of the company's uplinking services must get the I&B Ministry's approval.
