Pune, March 3: The Tata Central Archives, showcasing the 123-year-old history of the Tata Group has finally taken shape. The Archives, which was unveiled by Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata last month, was thrown open to the public on Saturday. The opening coincided with the 163rd birth anniversary of Jamsethji Nusserwanji Tata, founder of the House of Tata.The Tata Archives is a repository of important documents - correspondence, photographs, awards, trophies, medals, citations, paintings, video and audio clips and other material - relating to the genesis and development of the Tata organisation. This also includes the recreated Mumbai office room of the late JRD Tata.
The archives is being housed at the Tata Management Training Centre (TMTC) in Pune. This is the first of its kind archive created by any Indian industrial group. The 20,000-square feet archive has been built at a cost of Rs 3 crore.
