TDA Capital invests $2 min Octon

Mumbai : TDA Capital has invested about $2 million in Pune-based Octon-a technology company which is involved in technology architecture, deployment and maintenance of applications. The company is still in the process of closing its first round of funding and is in due for investments from another leading VC fund too, according to Mr Yogesh Kulkarni, co-founder, Octon.The company will be divesting about 20 to 25 per cent to investors for a total investment of $4 million in the first round according to Mr Kulkarni, even as he refused to disclose the exact equity stake that TDA has picked up in the company. Octon was set up in end-1995 and has evolved from being an Internet consultancy to a complete Internet services company with offices in Germany, US and UK. Octon has also set up development centres in these overseas markets. "We work with the model of overseas development centres since time to market is important and our clients are located in those parts of the world," explains Mr Kulkarni. Octon recently launched its Web Applications Outsourcing Services which basically requires expertise in the entire life cycle of a Web application. "What we specialize in is understanding the business strategy and then providing the client with value for money over a period of time through our expertise in building and maintaining applications," explains Mr Kulkarni. The company'sclients include Deutche Telecom, T-Mobile (a subsidiary of Deutche Telecom and Philips Semi Conductors in the US) among several others.
