Announcing the acquisition, Hikal Ltd managing director (MD) Jai Hiremath said: "This acquisition will give the company an excellent platform to launch itself in the healthcare sector and become one of the prominent players in the coming years.

He further added that the excellent R&D and manufacturing facilities of Wintac would enable Hikal to undertake pharmaceutical manufacturing and contract research for international companies.
