Ganesh Gupta to head textiles committee
Ganesh Kumar Gupta has been appointed as the new chairman of the textiles committee, by the ministry of textiles, Government of India. The appointment, effective from March 6, 2001, will be for a period of two years. Mr Gupta is the chief executive of Vijay Silk House and is the chairman of the Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council. Recently, he was elected as the chairman of the Federation of Indian Export Organisation (FIEO). The textiles committee is a statutory body under the administrative control of the ministry of textiles. The services rendered by the committee includes textile testing, quality inspection, certification and assistance to exporters, market research and industry specific research and development. Mumbai commodity market All markets including sugar, metals, spices, cotton, edible oils and its futures trading, remained closed in Mumbai on Monday on account of Shivaji Jayanti.
