New Delhi: In a bid to expand its IT business activities in India, Canon India, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Canon Singapore, is planning to enter into system integration business offering packages solutions combining products, application services, maintenance, consumable management and multi-media contents.The company is also planning to expand its Indian operations to provide sales, marketing and service support for all Canon group companies' products and services in India including high end IT products based on Digital Imaging technologies.
The company has recently sought an approval from the Government to undertake the fresh business activities. The Government sources said that the proposal has been been cleared by the ministry of information technology and ministry of commerce subject to the condition that the company would not undertake the sales and marketing of any new products, apart from the products already permitted in earlier approvals.
Seeking the permission for new activities in system integration business, Canon has stated that Canon wants to expand its operations in the IT sector by providing innovative IT solutions combining products, technologies and services that are critical for the new Internet age."Canon India wants to apply its core competence in imaging with new technologies and its brand awareness to offer a comprehensive line up of products and services," stated the company in its application submitted to the Government.
The new activities will be undertaken by a new distribution network and be relevant to the offices and homes equipped with modern IT devices, maintained by the company adding that it will offer solutions to provide value savings in the form of energy and cost-effective operations over an extended time-frame.
