Hometrade.com ropes in Shah Rukh Hrithik and Sachin for mega launch

Priya Srinivasan
Mumbai: In what seems like an inflection point for the dotcom sector at large and the e-finance and stocks space in particular, Hometrade.com, a finance, investment and stocks site appears to be planning a lavish commercial launch. The company is putting in place an advertising campaign starring Hrithik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan and Sachin Tendulkar. The company which is a sister concern of the Mumbai-based Ways India (they share a common set of investors) has also hired consultants Pricewaterhouse Coopers to design the backend for the company. Hometrade also plans a 200 seat customer call centre. Confirming the participation of the stars, the hiring of PwC and the planned customer call centre, Mr Mike Shah, a member of the board of directors of Hometrade, said, "it is all true and we are in the process of making a formal announcement". TV commercials with the three stars are being shot in Australia according to sources. This, however, could not be confirmed with the company. When asked about the managementteam at Hometrade, Mr Shah said "we do not have a CEO at the moment and the company is currently being run by the board of directors". The company is believed to have received funding from a set of NRI investors as well as VC Funds, though the names of the investors could not be confirmed. The site already features the three stars on its homepage and features a proposed section called "Memorablia". The Memorablia section, however, is not up yet. The site currently features sections on news, financial services (insurance, banking, real estate, credit cards), data and research (economy, industry and companies), markets (stocks, forex, commodities), investments (new issues, mutual funds, tax saving schemes, fixed income), and loans (auto, housing, consumer and educational).
