Bengal seeks private sector participation

Kolkata, Feb 18: The West Bengal government is seeking private sector participation in a big way for developing its industrial and social infrastrucuture. "We have realised the importance of the private sector in developing not only industries, but social infrastructure as well, and seek their support in this endevour," Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee said on Sunday.He said the state was open to ideas regarding development of roads, bridges, fly-overs in joint venture with private companies. "In future also we will seek private sector participation in developing hospitals, hotels and cultural centres. We want to publicise the model wherein the state government will provide land and private partners will bring in money," Mr Bhattacharjee said.
