Mumbai, Feb 13: Film financier, Bharat Shah was grilled on Tuesday by Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding alleged hawala deals even as his lawyers geared up to file a bail plea in the Mumbai High Court.Mr Shah's lawyer Vibhav Krishna said that his client would prefer a bail plea in the High Court as the special court had rejected his petition.
Mr Shah was produced this morning before the designated judge AP Bhangale, who allowed the ED to interrogate him. He was earlier questioned for two days, ED's counsel Arun Gupte told the designated judge AP Bhangale.
The ED claimed that Mr Shah was evasive and did not cooperate with the agency. Therefore, investigations were taking a lot of time, his counsel said.
The agency also said that Mr Shah will be confronted with the statement of film producer Nasim Rizvi on the alleged hawala deals. If he did not respond to the queries, the ED may even confront him face to face with Mr Rizvi.
