Briefing on the GoM meeting, Information and Broadcasting minister Shushma Swaraj told newspersons that the meeting took stock of the situation in the state and that one of the major tasks before the state government is to provide tents to the affected families. She said a French NGO is sending 15,000 tents and a similar number of tents are being dispatched by the international red cross (IRC). The Gujarat government has bought about 10,000 tents. Besides this, 38,000 tents have already been arranged. There was still the need for about 80,000 more tents which are needed to cope up with the situation. The I and B minister said the tents available with the army and the paramilitary units may be made available.
