Cell subscribers to pay as before
Neeraj Jha
Mumbai, Feb 13: With Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd's (BSNL) decision to challenge TraI's directive to extend BSNL's concessional tariffs for intra-circle calls, subscribers of BPL Mobile and Orange, the two cellular operators in Mumbai, will have to continue paying for calls within 200 km at the STD rate, at least for some more time."We have no choice but to put on hold our announcement of discounted rates. We are ready to give our customers the benefit of reduced rates, but what about the benefits due to us from BSNL. As of now, it will continue to charge us at the same old rate," said a top cellular industry source in Mumbai. He was reacting to BSNL's decision to move the Telecom Dispute Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT), against Trai's order. Copyright © 2001 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
