The Indus Entrepreneurs inaugurate UP chapter

New Delhi: The Indus Enterpreneurs (TIE) Uttar Pradesh chapter was launched recently in Kanpur by Mr Kanwal Rekhi and Mr Pavan Nigam, the co-founder of Healtheon/Web MD. Speaking at Software Technology Park, Kanpur, Mr Rekhi said, "Uttar Pradesh is fast catching up in information technology and IT-enabled services and the efforts have culminated in the launching of the TIE UP chapter in Kanpur, the sixth in the country." Mr Pavan Nigam, who played the pivotal role in bringing TIE to Uttar Pradesh, expressed his concern over "the digital divide" that had left some states behind in the race. The event was attended by Information technology secretary UP government, Mr Pankaj Agarwal, TIE president-Delhi chapter, Mr Saurabh Srivastava and director of LML, Mr RK Lohia. The TIE UP chapter is the sixth in the country and 23rd globally. TIE, a global non-profit network of professionals, dedicated to the advancement of entrepreneurship, and has created market capitalisation in access of $75 billion.TIE to launch Kolkata chapter Agencies add from KolkataThe Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE), a global organisation floated by successful silicon valley entrepreneurs of Indus (South Asia) origin in 1992, is all set to launch its Kolkata chapter. The charter members of the organisation, which has grown into a global one with nine chapters in the USA, one in Canada and five in India, aims to work with single-minded goal of fostering and nurturing entrepreneurship, according to core working committee member of Kolkata chapter Amit Tibrewal. The Kolkata chapter will be formally launched by West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee tomorrow and personalities such as general partner of Gabriel Venture Partners Mahesh Kanumury and Lakshmi Pratury of Global Catalyst Partner among others will be present on the occasion. Mahesh and Lakshmi will speak about the different forms of venture funding, how venture capitalists could help an entrepreneur in taking their ideas to the market and what venture capitalists look for when making investment decisions, Mr Tibrewal said.He said TIE had helped create about $100 billion of wealth amongst Indus Entrepreneurs by fostering entrepreneurship among them. Ambit, Arzoo, Cyrus Logic, Cyber Media, Exodus, Hotmail, Junglee, Rightworks, Verseta, Sycamore, Expede are some of its associated companies. Amongst TIE charter members are Sabeer Bhatia, KB Chandrashekar, Dr Purnendu Chatterjee, Vinod Khosla, Ashok Krishnamurty, Ranjon Nag, Pava Nigam, Suhas Patil, Kanwal Rekhi, Ashutosh roy and Arun Sarin.
