Confusion over ban on F-TV

Our eFE Bureau
New Delhi: There's confusion over the status of the F-TV Channel, which is dedicated to fashion. Even as Mr Ramesh Bais, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, announced in Raipur on Tuesday that the Centre had decided to ban the channel, the Centre was not aware of any such development. In fact, the I&B Minister, Ms Sushma Swaraj, had told reporters earlier that a consultative committee meeting on February 15 would take a decision on the issue. The director of F-TV is also scheduled to fly down to New Delhi this week to discuss the matter with Ms Swaraj. But going by the announcement made by Mr Bais, it appears that the Centre has already taken a decision on banning the controversial channel. The government had set up a panel to monitor the channel, so that it could arrive at a decision on whether the channel should be aired or not.
