SET's portal plans hit a roadblock

Our eFE Bureau
Mumbai: Sony Entertainment Television's maiden portal venture appears to have run into rough weather. The three way JV between Sony Entertainment Television (SET), youth site Freshlimesoda and Ahmedabad-based technology provider Applitech seems to be under review.

"Nothing has been decided, like everyone else we too are evaluating the business and our joint venture" said Mr Parmesh Shahane, founder, Freshlimesoda, when contacted.Mr Rajesh Pant, COO, SET, declined to comment on the issue when contacted.

This three way JV had been announced last year. While SET was to provide the marketing inputs for the venture, Applitech was the technology provider and Freshlimsoda was to handle the content.

Sony TV holds 33 per cent in this venture, and was to focus on building a youth brand, while Applitech Solutions Ltd was to provide the technology inputs. SET was to expand content and also provide infrastructure in terms of marketing, sales and creating synergy across various platforms.

Freshlimesoda.com is an online magazine for youth self expression. It features sections for news features, poetry, art, reviews and columns, to name a few.
