Mumbai : Wipro Infotech, a division of Wipro Ltd, is launching interactive voice response (IVR) software primarily for the call centres. According to Mr Ramesh Jethwa, head, call centres solutions and services, Wipro Infotech, the IVR will form a part of the Wipro's total technology offerings to the call center solutions. "Along with competitive call centre solutions provided by Cisco and Nortel, IVR software from Wipro will give the necessary edge to the call centre owners over others as far as technology is concerned," said Mr Jethwa. Wipro has finished the testing process and will soon launch the product. Further, according to Wipro Infotech, the product will also be sold to various vertical as well as horizontal industries where IVR has become the life-line of the business operation. The channels of distribution of the software beside Wipro's own software service implementation site will be the national distributors and the reseller channels. The IVR software is targeted at the high end of the market. " Gradually we will include facilities like speech recognition ability, text to speech function and unified messaging to the existing software. The minimum typical cost will be around Rs 8 to Rs 10 lakh. But if the solution follows the example of Kaun Banega Crorepati where there is 60 voice channels per city spread over five cities, then the cost will be around Rs 60 lakh," said Mr Jethwa. Wipro Infotech is also contemplating to create 'a centre for excellence for call centres', where customers can come and see various alternative solutions. The centre which will come up in the second quarter of this year will have a strength of around 15 software personnel. " The centre will provide the required information to the call centre promoters about the different technologies available for thistelecom segment," added Mr Jethwa.
