ValueSource sets aside Rs 4 crore for software development centre in Chennai

Our eFE Bureau
Chennai : Valuesource NV, a Belgium-based international information technology outsourcing company, has established a presence in Chennai with a software development centre. It aims to provide quality IT solutions to Belgium and other European companies, said Mr Bipin Nambiar, director, ValueSource.

An investment of about Rs 4 crore would be made in the Indian outfit in the near future. The centre will employ 50 professionals by the end of this calender year. It has the capacity to house about 100 professionals. The software development activities will focus on cutting edge technologies such as biometrics and voice recognition.

Among other things, the software outfit plans to put in place a unique profit sharing scheme. In the scheme all employees will get an equal share of the profit based on certain parameters. Employees are hired after a very careful selection procedure and hence an equal profit sharing partnership, said Mr Nambiar.

The Indian outfit will be headed by an expatriate. This would ensure client comfort and that the best systems are put in place. It will also put in place knowledge management practices so that when employees leave the company their knowledge stays on.

Commenting on the European market, Mr Nambiar said it was a very quality conscious one. People are not as used to outsourcing from India as the Americans are. The language is not a major barrier as English is the lingua franca of information technology professional and Europeans are used to dealing with multi-lingual situations.
