New Delhi: Aluminium production rose to 55,875 tonne in December, 2000 against the target of 51,172 tonne. The public sector National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco) crossed its target and produced 19,763 tonne of aluminium during the month.In the private sector, Hindustan Aluminium Ltd (Hindalco) and Indian Aluminium Ltd (Indal) also crossed their targets and produced 21,898 tonne and 3,739 tonnes respectively, an official release said.
However, the state-owned Bharat Aluminium Company Ltd (Balco) and private unit Madras Aluminium Company (Malco)'s production was slightly less than the target, it said.
Nalco exported 57,069 tonne of aluminium and 11,004 tonnes of aluminium during the month. Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) produced 5,074 tonne of copper cathodes and 3,234 tonne of continuous cast copper rods curing the month against the targets of 3,934 tonne and 2,794 tonne respectively. In the private sector, Indo-Gulf Corporation Ltd (IGCL) produced 9,577 tonne of copper cathode and 9,640 tonne of continuous cast copper rods.
Production of Zinc was 10,631 tonne against the target of 4,250 tonne, the release added.. The public sector Hindustan Zinc Ltd produced 8,804 tonne of zinc and Bilani Industries Ltd, a private unit, produced 1,827 tonnes, it said.
