Bangalore : Bangalore-based Majoris Systems has decided to foray into the smart-card solutions business with a view to rake in over $3 million during fiscal 2001-02. The company has set a target of $15 million for the fiscal. Majoris general manager (smart-card convergence solutions) Sumeet Rajpal told The Financial Express that to this end the company was currently developing a product for smart-card initiated transactions. The company would also develop services, solutions and transaction processing infrastructure for smart-card based applications. Majoris will provide end-to-end services and solutions with an increased focus on backend. "Frontend gives value in terms of publicity and exposure while backend provides a comfortable top and bottom lines," Mr Rajpal said. He said the company was currently in talks with a couple of potential customers in Australia and the US. "We are also in talks with leading technology vendors who can showcase our products in the international markets," he said.
Earlierbriefing the media in Bangalore on Wednesday, Majoris president and CEO BV Venkatesh said the company had bagged a $1 million order from a US-based B2B exchange, Entomo for testing related activities and domain and quality consulting. "We are currently testing and validating Entomo's software, SamartHub," he said. Majoris will set up an offshore development centre for the client. Mr Venkatesh said, in line with the company's focus on providing consulting and development services for e-business, it had recently initiated enterprise application integration (EAI). Its e-business and EAI consulting team would assist clients to derive viable IT solutions, he said.
